Kesuda
Inspired by the enchanting allure of the Kesuda Flower and leather-like texture, renowned for its mesmerising display of mystic-coloured petals draping entire trees, the Kesuda Floral Collection takes its origins.
Aranyani proudly embraces the ‘Kesuda flower’ which is said to be between 600 million and 1.2 billion years old as the motif for our Kesuda Floral collection celebrating its exceptional natural beauty and limitless versatility.
As a mature Kesuda tree blooms, it releases a cascade of petals in mystical hues that blanket everything in its path, creating a breathtaking and serene tableau that evokes feelings of peace and harmony.
This remarkable flower possesses over 21 medicinal properties and holds the distinction of being the first organic dye ever used by mankind. In Bharat, it is used during ‘Holi’ the festival of colours.
Aranyani’s team of embroiderers and painters create each one-of-a-kind Kesuda design, in the spirit of this flower’s exquisite and natural beauty.
Through their meticulous craftsmanship, the Kesuda floral design comes to life, consisting of over 1000 hand-stitches, showcasing distinct embroidery techniques. For the leather technique design, skilled craftsmen meticulously craft this collection, showcasing a hand-tucked smocking pattern.
Smocking is an embroidery technique that relies on decorative stitching between pleats to create textured patterns, originally found practical use in garments, combining form-fitting comfort and flexibility.
Its name traces back to the "smock," the work shirt worn by agricultural labourers. Hand smocking involves tucking leather on a pleater to create folds held together with thread.
