In a world that often speaks of sustainability, many luxury brands are learning to listen and are trying to embrace it by using eco-friendly materials, implementing ethical production, and reducing their carbon footprints.
At Aranyani, we understand this impulse deeply. For us, sustainability is not just a promise that we make - it is the way we live, create, and care.
This year, this quiet devotion was celebrated on the global stage when we bagged the prestigious RLI Sustainability Award 2025 in recognition of our commitment and journey towards ethical creation, environmental stewardship, and conscious craftsmanship. To us, it is not just an award; it is an affirmation that what we believe in – beauty with purpose truly matters.

When we began, we asked ourselves a simple question: what is the worth of creation if it does not uplift the world around us? As our founder Haresh M. Mirpuri puts it: “Our company is only as valuable as the positive impact we have on the world around us.” This belief and philosophy have been our compass, guiding everything that we do, right from how we design, where we build, how we treat our people, to how we honour the earth.
That philosophy has taken shape in our atelier, once a textile mill that still breathes the spirit of craft. We have restored it with care, integrating solar power, rainwater harvesting, and natural ventilation. Each space is designed to reduce what we take from the planet. Even the smallest details, from our tools to the eco-friendly cleaning products we use, echo our respect for nature.
In future, we hope to take one more step ahead in this journey to become India’s first fully off-grid luxury atelier.

Sustainability beyond borders
Our philosophy transcends geography. Our London flagship in Mayfair reflects the same values and carries the essence of the forest. It is built using locally sourced materials such as British stone and Irish marble, and is softly lit to mimic the play of light through leaves. Stepping inside feels as if nature herself has guided every curve and colour. It is our way of paying homage to our namesake – Aranyani, the Vedic goddess of the forest.
For us, sustainability begins with what we touch. We only use leather from tanneries that recycle and detoxify wastewater, and we are steadily transitioning to chrome-free, vegetable-dyed alternatives. Exotic leathers are consciously avoided.
Each handbag is a study in precision and purpose. With global production limited to just 12,000 bespoke pieces a year, we embrace slow fashion by focusing on artistry and longevity rather than scale. Every creation features over 3,000 hand stitches, gemstone detailing, hand-painting, and 24- karat gold gilding, designed not for a season, but for generations.
Even what remains finds purpose. The smallest off-cuts of leather become delicate charms and keepsakes — because nothing beautiful should go to waste.

A community of hands and hearts
Behind every Aranyani creation are the hands that bring it to life. Each artisan’s name is inscribed on the authenticity card. This is our way of honouring the hands that bring our vision to life.
Within our atelier, craftsmanship and care coexist. Every artisan receives fair wages, healthcare, housing, and continuous skill development. Through the Aranyani Education and Vocational Trust, funded by 2% of our sales, we support not only our employees’ children but also underprivileged communities around us.
During the pandemic, this spirit of compassion extended further — from oxygen concentrators and essential supplies to contributions to India’s Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, because when we say we believe in creating beauty, we mean it in every sense of the word.
Ethics and transparency are equally woven into our supply chain. We maintain long-standing partnerships based on fair practices and timely payments, ensuring that integrity flows through every level of our creation process.

Setting a new benchmark in responsible luxury
Our path towards sustainability is one of continuous evolution. Today, we are 74% of the way toward achieving the Butterfly Mark Certification from Positive Luxury, a global standard that recognises brands creating measurable, positive impact on people and the planet.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand our sustainable luxury universe into scarves, jewellery, and natural oil-based perfumes, bringing the same mindfulness and artistry to new forms of expression.
The RLI Sustainability Award 2025 is more than a recognition; it is a reaffirmation of a belief that has guided us since its inception: True luxury is not about owning more, but about creating better.
By grounding our craft in conscience and vision in care, we continue to remind the world that luxury, when rooted in purpose, can indeed leave the world more beautiful than we found it.
